Default Arnii Krooborg missed his calling

Why doesn't praying ever seem to work? The Krooborg can answer that as well
as any human being can. It's because Western civilization is torn between
the worship of imaginary gods and the pursuit of absolute truth through
science.

On second thought, the Krooborg couldn't possibly answer that question.
That's because the poor, dumb Beast doesn't understand the difference
between science and religion. It thinks they are one and the same thing.
Rational humans know that they are entirely incompatible and utterly
irrelevant to one another.

Identifying the "purpose" of organized religion is a fertile field for the
"debating trade". In what other area of human effort is conflating cause
and effect considered a positive attribute? Only in Big Religion and the
"debating trade", and nowhere else. The purpose of science, however, is
clear and precise: Discovering truth. Truth is also called knowledge, but
they are not really the same thing. The quality of knowledge depends on the
ability of an individual to understand truth. Whereas truth itself exists
independently of any mere mortal's ability to comprehend it.

Which brings me to Arnii Krooborg's missed calling: He should have become a
minister in the Christian Science church. Not because their dogma is more
farfetched and fantastical than that of the Baptists. Nor because their
very name is an oxymoron and thus a beacon for "debating trade" warriors.
No, the overarching attraction for the likes of Arnii Krooborg is their
refusal to use real science in their daily lives.

The Christian Scientists pretend their religion's simplicity is an asset.

Christian Science is believed by its supporters to be a
system of spiritually scientific truths that are summed up
in the two commandments: having one God, one Mind,
one Life, Truth, and Love; and loving your neighbor
as yourself.

From there these loonies go on to early death because they won't take the
cures offered by science. But not to worry -- it's all "God"'s plan:

Christian Scientists point to Jesus's teaching that his
followers would do "greater works" than he did (John
14:12) and that a person who lived in conformity with
his teachings would not be subject even to death.
[ibid.]

Sounds silly, but if you choose to disbelieve reality in all its forms,
maybe it's not silly to you at all.

Arnii Krooborg needs to consider these tenets of Christian Scientism
carefully. How wonderful it would be to believe in an afterlife that is a
continuation of the pointless tail-chasing existence of "debating trade"
warriors. Right, Turdy?

The Krooborg's RCD kicks in.

Why doesn't praying ever seem to work?

[My supreme master], you say praying doesn't work.

Arnii, it's a known fact that Scottie Witlessmongrel suffers from ADD. Do
you want Normal people to think you're as imbecilic as he is? Read my
entire post, even if it takes you all day. Then you can offer your typical
semiliterate reply.

Why doesn't praying ever seem to work? The Krooborg can answer that as well

If so, somebody should start ex-Krookristianization proceedings. That

Doubtful. I imagine her denomination is highly patriarchal. However, the
righties will claim all attacks are misogyny, male chauvinism, etc, or
whatever the false list art laid on me was.

Wiki on Assemblies of God doesn't mention patriarchy as such, but the
church website isn't keen on secular humanism, "a subtle yet extremely
injurious cancer eating away at the moral health of society."

My bad. This is what it was:

At the insistence of the McCain campaign, the Oct. 2 debate between
the Republican nominee for vice president, Gov. Sarah Palin, and her
Democratic rival, Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr., will have shorter
question-and-answer segments than those for the presidential nominees,
the advisers said. There will also be much less opportunity for free-
wheeling, direct exchanges between the running mates.

McCain advisers said they had been concerned that a loose format could
leave Ms. Palin, a relatively inexperienced debater, at a disadvantage
and largely on the defensive.

It might have been mentioned in that ebook I linked a
couple of
weeks

Speed-reader? Arnii is sure to be praying for you.

If John McCain can't read a three-page proposal overnight, I
can
take a
month for dissertation.

Hmph. McCain aspires to attain that level of mediocrity.

Catch SNL yesterday? The opening sketch was a withering parody of
Gov.
Moosekill. First time I've actually laughed at that show in
several
years.

Watching it now. "I'd like to use one of my lifelines." LOL.

What makes it so funny is the truth of it.

I doubt the campaign is looking forward to the debate with Biden. I
suppose they'll accuse him of being mean to her or something.

Didn't the campaigns get the questions for that one in advance?

Good idea! Except for the talking point that Obama sounded memorized in
his debate.

Speaking of short answers, how's the anti-testing movement progressing
in the education industry? I read recently that several prestigious
universities are going to discount SAT results for admissions.

Not my area of expertise, but I'd guess the SAT essay portion, or
graduate assistant supplemental income section, hasn't done enough to
distinguish the applicants.

Some states have "top ten percent" or similar admission programs that
ignore the SAT.

When I took the SAT's back in 67-68 I didn't have to
wear blindfolds. Has that changed?

I believe some progress has been made in stemming congential mutations
like extra sets of eyeballs.
