Music with vitality
Tonight I played music with vitality and passion:
Camillie O'Sullivan (an old demo disc which was later issued as A LittleYearning, see http://www.camilleosullivan.com/ ) -- nobody can touch her for Jacques Brel songs The Bonzo Dog Band -- Funnier than Monty Python, better musicians than the Beatles, a more driving rhythm than the Beach Boys (and that's when they're sending up portentious dramatics!) Elvis Presley -- The KIng, still astounding every time I play him Sometimes we should remember what all this expensive equipment we build and buy is for -- playing music. Andre Jute Impedance is futile, you will be simulated into the triode of the Borg. -- Robert Casey |

Music with vitality
The Bonzo Dog Band -- Funnier than Monty Python, better musicians than the Beatles, a more driving rhythm than the Beach Boys (and that's when they're sending up portentious dramatics!) I agree with you about thew Bonzo Dog band - remarkable talent, something of a cult these days too. Elvis Presley -- The KIng, still astounding every time I play him Somehow, Elvis was never at the top of my list, even though a 78rpm shellac of All Shook Up was one of my prize possessions as a kid. By the same token, I could not really appreciate what so many people saw in Frank Sinatra. I did however enjoy the comment by Bing Crosby. "A talent like Frank comes along only once in a life time. Why did it have to be slap in the middle of mine!" Sometimes we should remember what all this expensive equipment we build and buy is for -- playing music. Listening to one of my favourite baroque composers today, Willem de Fesch. (1687-1757) I wonder what he would have thought about a digital 24 bit recording of his Concerti Grossi. Iain |
