Default Is there an echo in here?

Hi folks:

Is it just me, or is everyone else seeing postings from Monday, May 5th
showing up for the second time?

Peace,
Paul

I think it's just you. I think it's just you. There's no echo. There's no echo.

I'm not. Look at the original posting and the new version of the posting
and inspect the Path: line in the header. It will tell you what's been
going on. Sometimes this happens when machines screw up the message-ID
information in the header, and everybody downstream of them winds up with
double copies of everything.

It must be your NNTP server/service. Not seeing that
phenomenon on other news services. This is not un-
common when a server loses it's cache and msut be
reloaded, etc.

I'm seeing them here, and there's two postings of each message to boot.

I haven't been paying attention. But, I've noted quite a few dupe posts in
rec.arts.movies.production.sound. Haven't noted them in
alt.audio.pro.live-sound, but then it's kinda hard to tell in that group with
the religious proselytizing and flame wars

they've just settled down to actually discussing sound reinforcement again for
the present, so I've really just started actually paying attention to posts
there again today.

That is annother symptom of an NNTP server that is
suffereing from momentary insanity/amnesia. It thinks
it needs to forward all those (outdated) messages to its
peers. It happens from time to time. Ignore it and return
to your regularly scheduled programming.

It isn't just you. I'm seeing it, too.

At first I thought it was a glitch on my ISP's own news
server, but since you're seeing it as well (assuming you're
not on the same server), I'm wondering if it's coming from
somewhere in the usenet ethernet...

Supernews is not experiencing this.

The common factor: we're all on AT&T. So I guess that's who screwed up.

Paul
