In wikipedia it's written that sound recording and reproduction is the
electrical or mechanical inscription and re-creation of sound waves,
usually used for the voice or for music.

What is meant by electrical and mechanical inscription of sound waves?
What is inscription of sound waves?

"Inscription" is an unnecessarily pompous way of saying "writing" or
"recording". Probably written by a teenager who thinks long words
make his writing sound more important.

Wikipedia is merely stating the obvious. Sound recording and
reproduction consists of...er...recording and reproducing sound :-)
