You can get a person kicked off of Usenet for one of the following
reasons: -Spamming a newsgroup -Posting personal information such as social security numbers or credit card numbers -Providing links to illegal pornography (heads up, Arny!) -Making posts filled with hateful or violent content, such as racist or anti-Semetic comments Every racist thread, every anti-Semetic post...just report him. If one person does it, it will probably get ignored. If everyone does, who knows. I was once threatened by Usenet for dropping an f-bomb. Ignoring this stupid asshole is futile. Boon |

Most who do get dumped from an ISP just sign up with another and keep going. Ludwig is plenty annoying and an interesting problem though: unless I'm mistaken, he's stated publically that he is posting this drivel so that it's preserved in the google archive, not to foster discussion or argument. I'm really uncertain as to the best way to deal with him. There are a few possibilities: one could ridicule him, attempt to turn him into a source of amusement. Perhaps it might help to report him to his ISP. I don't think that will get much traction though. Alternatively, one could spend a lot of time and energy refuting the nonsense he posts. I know I certainly don't have the time or interest to invest in that, but fully applaud anyone who does put some energy into that. Or, like Bob says, just ignore him. I don't know if that will help or not, but I'm tempted to just killfile him so I don't see any of his posts. Perhaps it's a bit self-serving, but at that point he no longer exists from my perspective, and I kind of like that thought. The only problem with killfiles and filters is that they only really work when everyone else complies as well. There have been many times in the past when I've killfiled people, only to see a complete record of their shenanigans because everyone else is still responding. Right now, for instance, I wouldn't know that Arny existed if it wasn't for the others here. Boon |

Still, it's kind of a drag when you pull up the list of RAO topics, and the last 20 or so are all Ludwig, combined with some Chinese firm trying to sell sneakers. It's extra work just to get to the very few relevant topics posted. Boon |

You can get a person kicked off of Usenet for one of the following reasons: -Spamming a newsgroup Based on personal observation, one would have to spam a large number of newsgroups repeatedly to actually get kicked off by your ISP. We're talking something far more serious than anything that Bret has done. As usual, Marc's posting trash. -Posting personal information such as social security numbers or credit card numbers You might get someone's ISP to drop them for this reason, but they'll just sign up with some other ISP. As usual, Marc's posting trash/ -Providing links to illegal pornography (heads up, Arny!) Something to consider, something we had a lot of trouble beating into the head of AOL lusers back in the day; my server, my rules. Basically the US Constitution does not apply here, if you access a group through *my* server and I do not like what you do/say I can boot you off. Since it is my privately owned server it's my way or the highway, follow my Terms of Service or find another host. For some reason people in AOL chat rooms thought that the first amendment covered their Phil Allison like tirades. I'll reiterate that the biggest part of the battle is getting the admin to enforce the ToS. -- "I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges?" -- TazAMD |

We're all in the same boat. Let's pull together. It's more than that, Bob. It's the craziness that comes with spending your life on the Internet. It's the inability to converse in a normal or meaningful manner. If I was wrong to say that Usenet threatened me, it could have been quickly cleared up with a couple of exchanges (like Jen was trying to do). I'll be the first to admit that I phrased it wrong. I received an e-mail from AOL saying that I had violated my TOS because of a Usenet-generated complaint. If I was talking to normal people, that would be that. But looking at the responses from Windsor Fox and Arny, I am again reminded of how creepy and ****ed-up these morons are, and how they've lost touch with the real world. It's also funny how both of them have again revealed themselves to be complete morons by coming to the aid of Ludwig. Again, if reporting someone to their ISP no longer works, then so be it. I could care less. It's amazing to watch people like Arny and Windsor Fox respond the way they did, because it's clear that important things, like the quality of their lives, no longer matter. Arny's a guy who has hung around for more than a decade in a place where most people despise him and think he's a sick, twisted sociopath. NOT NORMAL BEHAVIOR. Bret Ludwig floods an audio newsgroup with OT posts that reflect his aberrant political views, despite the fact that no one responds to him seriously. NOT NORMAL BEHAVIOR. And Windsor Fox believes the way to win an argument is to trick someone into cross-posting into a different group, and to post in a nonsense code that only other Intergeeks understand. NOT NORMAL BEHAVIOR. This people are genuinely crazy. It nauseates me to have contact with them. Boon |

Â* Â*Yes, we are well aware of what you know and when it comes to the Internet and such it seems to be very little. Â*I also call BS. And that changes the fact that I once had AOL say that I violated my TOS because they received a complaint from Usenet? Â*You can probably go back into Google and find my original post...it was back in 1999 or so. Â*You look like Arny, posting hopelessly about nothing because you're licking your wounds. Â* Â* No sir, the fact is that you are the one looking ignorant right now, I never have. You've always been the one looking like a doof slinging what you thought were some kind of cutting remark about computer gaming when in actuality it was mostly ill fitting, nonsensical gibberish. You sit there calling my post exactly what you did to me. Pick out something I said and focus on it. The difference is when it comes to my posts about you, I actually know what I am talking about, unlike your posts about computer games. You actually think you embarrassed me? I AM a PC gamer, hard core, damn good and proud of it though it's only one slime facet to my life. You are like a dove, you sing eloquently and look good doing it, but just not the brightest bird on the tree. Â*Neither AOL nor Google care whether you use "****" or not. Not anymore, I guess. Â* Â* Â*I was running organized chats on AOL before you knew what Usenet was, I was dialing into AOL before it was called AOL, probably before you knew what a PC was. I had a bang path before you knew what email was. I just USUALLY don't indulge pigeons like yourself with info as it's generally a waste of time. Â*Look at your buddy Phil. I don't know who you're talking about. Â*Go ahead and send abuse reports to AT&T until they block you as a ko0k, but until he gets really abusive and starts nym shifting to avoid your filters (you DO have him filtered, right??) they aren't going to do anything past sending a boiler plate reply telling you to add a filter for him in your news reader. You sound like an Intertard here. Â*I could care less about reporting someone. Â* Â* Yeah, the guy on AOL posting through Google who "got a warning from 'the Usenet" referring to ANYone else on the Internet as an Internet tard is pretty rich. Perhaps you meant you could not care less? If you could not care less why did you make that frustrated sounding post telling everyone they should LART Brett for making off topic posts. Talk about running in circles.... Â*Oh wait, you don't have a newsreader. Don't need one. Â*I'm not an Intertard. Â* Â* Tell the truth, you can't figure it out. In actuality, you ARE an "Intertard" by your own admission. Â*Well you can get them free and use a free server. Oh wait, you don't have a *real* ISP. Again, I'm not an Intertard. Â*I don't stay up nights thinking of ways to make my life on the Internet more exciting. Â*D'oh!! I guess you're screwed.... No, you're screwed. Â*You're living your life as an Intertard, and you think you're somehow cool. Â*I've been hanging out with famous musicians all week. Â*You've been hanging on to your keyboard, praying for the loneliness to end. Â* Â* Â*The tard is the one who can't even figure out how an NNTP client works. I bet you use that line on the chicks. And they laugh and laugh. I know more than most because it's part of my job, but even people who spend less than an hour a week online are capable. That would be a gross generalization on your part. I bet if you took a poll of all Internet users and asked what an NNTP client is, less than 5% would know the answer (at least without Googling it). Once again, you're the nerdy computer guy who thinks he's cool until he has to go outside and be a hopeless nerd again. Hell, my 92 year old grand mother uses Thunderbird. Trying to disguise your ineptitude by referring people who are capable as tards isn't as amusing as it is pathetic. Nope. You're a tard because you've made this your life. You're a tard because you try to judge others based on their knowledge of computers. You're a tard because your personal values and beliefs no longer have meaning, but you haven't figured that out. Bob Morein (310) 237-6511 Sorry Bob, Bret's posts don't bother me. I find Boon and the middius more offensive by starting new threads for the purpose of verbally berating individuals for different reasons. Admittedly it just makes them look silly but I would venture to say that, as someone else said it is probably the major reason there is hardly anyone here anymore. Some of his content I agree with, much of it I do not, the naked truth is that *I* rarely have the patience to read posts as long as what his are so I really don't know much about what his posts consist of. There is some guy in ott.general who says the Holocaust is a figment of peoples imagination. What are you going to do? Either have the cods to ignore it, make snippy replies, or drop him into your twit filter and move on. People using Google to read Usenet have no place to complain, Usenet was not meant for nor is it conducive to a web interface. -- "I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges?" -- TazAMD |

Especially on the Internet, there are people here who can change where your posts go, sometimes permanently. It's like that poor dumb Dizzy ******* a few weeks back. He had to call me a pothead a half dozen times before he could spit out why disagreed with my views on bend radii in cables. Then he accused me of having to have the last word. After a few more posts, he finally mentioned that he was an EE (more Internet bull****, BTW). If he had done that in the beginning, we might have had a nice informative chat about the subject. But no, he had to be an Intertard. No you would still have found a reason to attack him. You can't help yourself. You think you are better smarter and more correct than anyone else. Now *THAT* is a mental deformity. I'll be more than happy to admit I'm wrong about something, especially if it's about computers. I've done it countless times. But if you're an asshole about it, I'll ****ing bury you every time. You only bury yourself. You look like the childish fool you are and got ****ed when it was proven. "Oh poor pitiful little me, the mean man made me post where I belong." You spend just as much of your life in this place as you so boldly accuse me of and act as if I'm a lesser person for it. The insanity is yours and always will be. The people laughing at you in AF and AUK are just itchy waiting for me to cross post you so they can pounce. I don't want to run that load of havoc on this group. -- "As seen in the classified ads: Learn how to get idiots to send you a dollar and their SSN. It's his own fault that he made his idiotic statements, false accusations, and his subsequent self-humiliation with his pathetic, embarrassing attempt to save face by accusing me of making imaginary errors. I finally just let him have the last word (unread), as I knew he'd just continue to pull **** out of his ass and claim that I didn't "get" it, just like he claimed that I didn't "get" something about bending wires. Ooohhh, bending wires - what a difficult, unknown thing for an adult to "get". He's got some kind of mental deformity, that's for certain... Oh, and I do have an EE degree. 8) |

Actually, my last word was to say I would have been more than happy to discuss the subject with you, but you were more concerned with calling me a pothead. Sorry, but real engineers don't think like that. He's got some kind of mental deformity, that's for certain... Yeah..it's from listening to too many anonymous Internet assholes make unsubstantiated claims about their accomplishments in the real world. Oh, and I do have an EE degree. 8) Bull****. You don't talk like an engineer, you don't reason like an engineer. The real reason you didn't respond to me was that it was a matter of time before everyone else realized it, too. Boon |

First of all, three out of the four terms are subjective and cannot be proven. Neither are they exclusive. Not very precise thinking from an EE. Besides, I'm starting to think you may be an EE, but just an incompetent one. See how the truth exists in shades of grey now? Here's the facts: you had a chance to display your knowledge and you declined. Any engineer worth his salt would have stood up and stated his case briefly without having to make a half dozen drug references first. Now you're using typical Internet asshole tactics to try to weasel out, most notably obfuscation and projection. For instance, I really can't have the last word if you've never said anything of substance in the first place. You may or may not be an EE. Let's just say for now that you're a really bad one. I accept and agree with the above two statements. Do you? Boon |
