I've been using Pro Tools since PT 5 and have in the past few months grown
increasingly tired of it, currently using the 003. Constant problems. I have computers that are 'approved' by Digi and they have admitted my computers are not the source of my problems. I'm tired of not knowing if it'll launch or not the day after a session. I'm fed up with constant white noise problem http://duc.digidesign.com/showflat.p...=5&o=7&fpart=5 The interface is unstable. I get the horizontal scroll bar stuck to the far right, there are clicks that appear in the recordings, sometimes left and right channels drop out intermittently, faders often won't work the list goes on and on. This 003 unit is truly not the rough road warrior Digi makes it out to be. I find it to be very fragile. Today when I "launched" PT 7.4 I got a warning message that the program needed to be reinstalled. And nothing has changed since yesterday's highly unstable editing session. Anyway I couldn't do anything other than reinstall the darn thing and go through all the updates again... - and I'm on the clock. Simply put: I need something I can count on. I don't care what it is. Steinberg, Cakewalk anything is better than this. Could someone PLEASE recommend something? Also if you could tell me some decent hardware to use with the software you recommend I would greatly appreciate it. I'm used to the 003 and use it only to take the signal via optical cable from the DA converter into the 003 bypass it and go my computer. I need at least 8 channels - ideally more. But for now I've gotten away with 8. So far I've been using Millennia HV-3D mic pre and a Lynx Aurora 16 AD converter. I'm keeping those but need some hardware to get the signal out of the Lynx into the computer. Thanks a whole whole lot J |
