Default External Midi controllers + pc's

Hi,

My inner geek is restless, and I am thinking about developing some
sort of application that processes / manipulates midi information to
do fun things with the notes. I see units like the Terratec Axon 100
MK2 can split by string / position on the fretboard - does anyone know
if this string information is sent down the midi out as well? - i.e.
which notes on what string.

From my understanding the guitar hex pickups like the Roland GK2A take
the sound in a special manner from the strings and transmit it to a
converter like the axon 100 in 6 seperate channels (one for each
string). Each channel is then converted to midi and it is all synthed
it up and/or squirted it down the midi out.

I am particularly interested in knowing what notes are being played on
what string. The units must be processing strings seperatly as you
can assign instruments to different strings, but my concern is that
all 6 channels of midi get aggregated into one channel / track went
sent out over the midi out, which obviously would make it impossible
to decipher which notes came from what string. Anyone know much about
the midi outs on units like this?

Any help would be great, think an email to the manufacturers might be
in order though. Jon

It say at the bottom it can send as 6 seperate channels instead of the
usual midi sald from other units

Yes, most midi guitar pickups will do this. I used to have a
Casio/Ibanez guitar which did this too.

Yup, that's how those converters do it. Nope, I don't use guitar synth
myself, so I'm at limited help.
Try the r.m.m.s (synth) NG; they may have some answers..
Also, pay loopers-delight.com a visit, and sign up to the mailing list.
Some (many) in there use synths, combined with sequencing and looping.
