What computer platform, and how important is "free?" If you're on a
PC, I highly recommend Total Recorder (http://www.totalrecorder.com).
I think it's about $17 now and it really works. What I particularly
like about the program is that it has a built-in timer (like a video
recorder) that will automatically connect to the streaming source at
the programmed time, and you can set it up to repleat that recording
on a daily or weekly basis.

I've heard tell of Windows sound cards that have a "Record what you
hear" setting which will also allow you to record an Internet audio
stream, but I've never had one that does, so I can't vouch for that
procedure.

"On boards" usually allow it. Total Recorder is unique in as much as it
installs itself as a virtual driver layer, and thus it is able to record
what is played even on sound card setups that do not allow it ex works.
Audiograbber will also do line in recording, start new files when silence
etc. ... and is free.
