I am trying to create an accelerating race car/ boat motor special effect
with a synth. While I can create the tones/ modulation I need with the synth, I cannot create a somewhat constant acceleration (on the order of 2 octaves) for the resulting tone. I have since transferred a long tone sample, looped it, and then applied accleration (speed resampling) curves in software. I have also added effects, such as reverb, to try and attempt to get a more natural sounding acceleration but therein lies the problem: the acceleration I get from speeding up the wave file doesn't sound the same as a natural acceleration I would get from a motor. The tones just seem to get too bright and thin when acceleration becomes high. How can I get around this and make the "accelerating motor" more natural sounding? Thanks, JD |
