Hi all,
I'd like to use ortf to stereo record some acoustic instruments (ac guitar). But it occured to me that the 3 to 1 rule presents a problem with ortf - ie. the ortf spec states the cardiod mics are spaced at 7 inches ... Ok fine ... Soooo ... with 7 inch mic spread (and following the 3to1 rule)... doesn't that mean that the guitar MUST be no more than 2 1/3 inches away from the mics ?? For example , if I chose to place the guitar 1 foot from the mics, then the rule states that the mic to mic spacing must be at least 3 feet apart . But of course ortf states a 7 inch mic to mic spread ... aaarrrrgh !!!! I'm a bit confused how the 3to1 rule really applies to a stereo technique like ortf . Any thoughts on this ? Thanks a ton, John. |
