I myself am going through this same issue.
After checking all available amps in my area,
this is what I found under $2500 USD....

Crown ComTech210 - A bad match
Alesis RA300 series - No low end defintition
Bryston 4b - Pretty good.
B&K reference 200.2 - A great choice
ARAGON28MKII - WOW a superb match

The ARAGON28MKII is a hi-fi thing and doesn't have ballanced inputs.

Go for a power amp with no build in pre amp and only ballanced stereo XLR in
and no level og EQ knob . . . your mixer is a pre amp, equlizer and level
control. your power amp should only do the amplification af the signal
from the mixer.

You already have a pre amp in your mixer so don't buy another pre amp.

Sorry, you are correct, I meant to list the Aragon 8008 MKII which has no

That's better . . . . nice design and specs . . . but where do you get it
for less than $2500 ?

pre-amp and does have XLR inputs. Sounds much better than most of the "Pro
Audio" amps out there, but costs more as well...

IT SOUNDED ASTONISHINGLY GOOD!!!!
I HAD AN ARAGON 10 YEARS AGO, AND I COULD SWEAR IT WAS A KRELL (SAME
DESIGNER AND ENGINEERS)

Audio Advisor had them at $1750 or so a few months back.

and also these other guys can be bargained down..
