LCD Display "Ghosting" Problem
I bought a used Sony R-7 recently and noticed that the display was
kind of hard to read at certain angles (actually most of them). Thanks to the folks who replied off list about a contrast control. I mounted the unit low in my F/X rack and that makes it easy to read, but I have noticed that after it's been on for a while (a few hours) that the upper line of the LCD (it's a 2 x 40 LCD) sort of "bleeds" or "ghost echos" into the bottom line, if the bottom line is blank (with the R-7 you can put applications notes in the 2nd line of a program name). Is this likely to be an LCD problem or a backlight problem? The reason I ask is that backlights (another thread I started with another piece of gear I have with a dead backlight) are pretty cheap but I take it a 2 x 40 replacement LCD would not be cheap. Any thoughts on this...is this a common problem with the R-7? FWIW, the guy I got it from did rebate me some of the purchase price (it was an Ebay thing, from a high volume seller, so I doubt the guy really checked it out thoroughly) so I'm ok with the deal I got...just wondering if I need to budget for a replacement LCD in the future.
