it depends on the exact mode of fail, or stage of calibration - maybe
with 'no detected travel' on a fader it hangs.




Oh, OK, that's interesting, but a rather ridiculous design IMHO.
Problem is I won't be able to confirm the unit is dead unless I spend the
money on another fader.

I wonder if I could fool it by manually moving the fader? It just goes up
and then back down again!


Yep - giving it a 'help' may help (which would indicate physical sticking,
or spindle string off-set.
