Default Firewire or USB 4 channel analog interface?

I'm trying to record two independent analog stereo sources into my laptop.
(Coming from two turntables, for digitizing my vinyl at "maximum speed").
Are there any good firewire or usb 2 (or 1 I guess) devices out there for
this purpose? I've read about the Midiman and Motu "big" stuff, but that
seems like overkill. The firewire 410 from M-Audio looks interesting, but
seems to have some negative impressions on drivers and support. The Edirol
UA-1000 looks nice but is expensive. The other question/issue is to make
sure that it's easy to come away with two independent wav files, one from
channel 1/2 and another from channel 3/4. Would be best if I could control
record/stop independently per channel set as well.

Recommendations welcome, thanks.
