Since there was so much interest in this topic, I thought I would follow up with
the answers.

1. Bob Orban designed the gate circuit for the dbx 286s.

2. The dbx 1074 quad gate is NOT the same circuit as the dbx 286s.

Now the remaining question is whether the gate on the 1074 is better or worse
than the 286s.
