Hello,
If you are speaking at a basic speaking level, perhaps slightly lower than basic, about how many decibels is hitting the capsule? I'm thinking of a very close proximity situation, like a SM7B or RE20 with the voice person mabye about 5-6 inches from the actual mic (about 12-15cm). Somebody online was saying that would be about 100db. That appeared to be a high number to me, but I figured I'd ask the experts here. |

My Radio Shack analog SPL meter shows about 70 dB on a slow C weighting with the mic 5 inches or so from the mouth and speaking in a normal voice. Fran |

I could believe that for some tenors with a serious chest voice, it might be nearly that high. One of the cinema sound techs I used to work with had to be at least 95 dBSPL up close, just with his normal speaking voice. It was a problem working with him. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. Thanks, Mr. Dorsey.
I'll guesstimate mine to be 70db. |
