Default Soundproofing air handler area?

So I'm going to put a small project studio in a new basement and it might
have to be right next to a large closet containing the mechanicals (air
handler and water heater). There are few options in this small basement.
Will I be able to soundproof the closet sufficiently to be recording
acoustic guitar and vocals just a few feet away? Has anybody had
experience with this? Thanks.

Just Soundproofing the cabinet will probably not be the most efficient way
to go.

A lot of the noise will probably escape as vibration that is transmitted
through the support for the HVAC equipment. You can address this by mounting
it on a massive base that is itself shock mounted.

Another large dollop of noise may escape via the plumbing. Put in flexible
couplings. Use heavy metal pipe where you might otherwise use PVC.

Another large dollop of noise will escape via the ducts. Put in flexible
couplings, and perhaps sound-absorbing baffles.
