I tend to suggest whatever is on sale that uses a good quality cable (Canare, Mogami, Belden, Gepco, Gotham, etc.) and good quality connectors (Switchcraft, Neutrik, Amphenol, etc.). Most outfits like Gepco and Markertek will make cables up custom, and that's really no more expensive than getting them off the shelf. Whirlwind will do that also. If you call Markertek and say "I need twenty 20-foot star quad mike cables with Switchcraft A3M and A3F connectors" they'll ship them next day. If you need 27-foot ones, you'll pay a buck or so more because they won't have them on the shelf. I tend to be a fan of the star-quad cables for reduced noise pickup, and I tend to like the braided Canare shields better than the served ones most Mogami cables use because it holds up better to things like pianos rolling over cables. But it's not a big deal. They're all better than the generic crap cables. --scott Thanks! I'll check that site out. -adam |
