Maybe in the next decade we are able to *wear* our whole music collection in lossless quality - then I would be very interested what kind of earplug would satisfy real audiphile listening. Unfortunately it seems to look bad for sound quality in times of mp3. I do not see any consumer producs that utilize lossless compression formats ATM or coming soon... ;-)) I'm a day late (okay, more like over a month late) and a dollar short here, but my iPod Classic 80g Video 5th Gen will play Apple Lossless just fine. The fidelity is outstanding. Of course, I'm not using the standard Apple crap earbuds, either. I'm using some Shure E2s that, while not the best on the market, are no slouches either. I hope we can still get any cd's in a few years - and are not forced to buy sonically crippled and DRM'd downloads - there are some dangerous trends underway in my opinion. :-( I totally concur. I know some will cringe here, but I dig my vinyl. I also dig my DVD-As and SACD Hybrids. When I can afford it, I'm looking forward to a Blu-Ray player that will play the new Blu-Ray Audio format. That's the stuff that won't likely make it to iPods. JMHSO ---Jeff |
