A Danish Radio design from the 1950'es was just that, a single point stereo
speaker, it used M-S and had the property that the closer you sat the wider
the image.

This idea keeps coming back. The most recent incarnation of it is being
sold by Embracing Sound Experience as the "Emes Owl Active" loudspeaker.
