My lawnmower is a modern POS that can't keep time worth diddly. For mechanical beats I'm currently liking a 30 year old, not overly cleaned, Marlin 1894 in .357mag. A leather strap for the back of your fingers and a ghost ring rear sight and yer good for about 80bpm (for 1/8 of a minute. Here computer aids come in handy for looping. Arf.) Now that I write this, I'm wondering if it's possible to record it with my primitive recording gear (no compressors or anything else fancy, but portable! - stereo mic pair to Tascam US-144 to laptop). Also a Zoom H2 which has some whizbangs inside. Might be fun to try. Much thanks, as always, Chris Hornbeck |
