Default Recommend a Sound card

I need a sound card for my computer (Win XP Pro) that has RCA Out's.
I need this so I can go into my headphone amp.
I was thinking something in the 100 dollar range.
Not much more and it doesn't have to be any less either.

Thanks

J

What's wrong with buying one of those $5.95 adaptor cords?

I don't know very many soundcards that have RCA outs...but suitable
cables from most any type of plug to RCA are readily available.
You should be able to get a jack/rca converter plug for a few cents no
problem, I have like a dozen around here and I would definitely say
that choosing your soundcard based on what kind of output plugs it has
is NOT a good idea.

FWIW, I would also recommend an external soundcard while you're at it,
saves u from a lot of hassle.

M-Audio, ESI, Even Yamaha make USB interfaces under $100.

Cheers,

Dee

Not sure you've provided enough info, but nevertheless, I'll risk an
assumption that your present soundcard has a stereo mini-jack output,
and your headphone amp has RCA jacks, one for left input and another for
right.

Go to a Radio Shack or Guitar Center or someplace similar and buy a
stereo mini-plug to dual RCA's cable and you should be good to go.

No you don't. You need a card with a stereo Line Out. If this is on
a stereo 1/8" jack you need a cable with one of those on one end, two
phonos on the other. If it has phono outputs you need a twin
phonophono cable. If 1/4 jacks.....well, you get the idea.

My M-Audio AP 2496 has RCA ins and outs:

But you can probably also just get something likeone of these:

and use what you've got.

Yeah probably. The main advantage of the AP2496 would be better sounding
converters than in the usual (on-board) sound card. But technically, a
simple adaptor oder cable with the appropriate connectors will be much
cheaper and also do the job.
