The use of MOTU hardware with PCs has always been problematic, while using the gear with Mac computers is very straightforward and has proved very reliable. Philip Perkins I don't disagree with the Mac support part, but I've been running an 828 MkII for over two years on an AMD system with Sony Vegas that's given me no problems at all. (Here's hoping that continues. ) ... and me a 2408/2 and 24i for many years with PCI324 424 drivers which are 'completely featured' and perfectly stable. Maybe their Windows dude left .... The Motu PCI based stuff generally works quite well on the Windows platform, but the F/Wire stuff is really only solid on the MAC. As Bob has mentioned, the carnage on the Motunation forums among Windows/Firewire users is horrific and has been for years. Those of us with the PCIX-424/PCIe-424 cards stand back and watch the fireworks. I would never in my wildest dreams consider buying a Motu F/Wire interface for my PC DAW. Sure, there are a lucky few who make it work, but they seem to be the exceptions. Bill. |
