I am looking for answers to the following dilemma:
I want to be able to transfer (direct digital 24-bit/48Khz AES/EBU) 24 tracks of digital data from a RADAR-II into my PC-based workstation. The Workstation is a HP visualize dual XEON 550 / 512 / 9.1GB etc... which serves as my 2-track editing/master recorder /CD writer etc, running Soundforge 6. I want to be able to import or re-record in real time, the digital tracks from the RADAR-II onto the workstation, where I intend to use 24 tracks of pro-tools for subsequent editing / mixing. I do NOT want to have to buy a MAC & DAMSEL software and the required acessories , which I know will allow direct RADAR to Protools exchanges, but this will be costly, and render my current setup/software redundant and at worst obsolete. What would be the most cost effective means (soundcard product, multichannel peripheral etc.) by which I could achieve this? I suspect I will need some kind of PCI "core" card, and 24 channel digital i/o splitter/input. I do not need any A/D conversion as part of of the package...just straight digital transfer, 24/48. I know there are a multitude of options, but the purpose of my posting here is to get some direct feedback from someone who has had to face this problem and has arrived at a viable solution...at a nominal expense. Anyone who has experience in this, or is doing the same thing, please forward me any help you might be able to give. Thanks very much, Rainer |

Actually...the real question is:
is a MOTU 2408 mkIII compatible with protools? I know that their "official" listing of compatible software does NOT list protools, instead almost everything else, VEGAS, Cubase etc is listed. My guess is that this is a licencing/legal issue moreso than a compatibility problem???? anyone who knows please let me know....this would answer my original question nicely! Thanks Rainer Rainer Wiechmann wrote: I am looking for answers to the following dilemma: I want to be able to transfer (direct digital 24-bit/48Khz AES/EBU) 24 tracks of digital data from a RADAR-II into my PC-based workstation.
