It's time to buy a good mixing console (ok, I know that a good mixer costs
more than my car...but i'm trying to build up a humble recording studio to record some demos for my band and my friends). I have about 1000$ to spend for it and i'm thinking to buy a used console...what do you suggest me? Thanx for the help and excuse me if I'm boring with this questions Bye J |

I got a small (12 channel) studer 089 for $1100 but that was pretty cheap. D&R Dayner can be had for about that and they are very good (as are most D&R´s) Check www.recordingconsoles.net There is a forum where people will help you out. Cheers David |

Thanx for the help and excuse me if I'm boring with this questions Yamaha have a nice little range of low cost mixers that just came out earlier this year. See http://www.yamaha-mg.com It kinda matters what you're recording to...8 tracks, 16, 24. Will you be recording groups live? $1000 will find you a nice mixer. Actually an Allen Heath mix wizard is a nice choice and is $1K new. Lot's of Yamaha O1Vs used and that's a pretty nice sounding digital board...with a steeper learning curve but has some effects and things on there that are handy. A Soundcraft Spirit( like an M12 for 8 track or even 16) isn't a bad choice either. Lot's of Mackie stuff; a 1604 will work and you can find those for $600 or so. Save for one really nice vocal mic and a few role-player mics for kick and overheads... ....and some 57s, monitors and acoustic treatments...oh jeez, it's never ending. good luck, kelly |
