Default Pro tools to Sonar and Back?

Is it possible to track in pro tools at a studio, bring the files
back home, open them in sonar, do more tracking on my own time, then
take them back to the PT studio for more tracks or mixdown? Would it
be done with the raw wav files or some other method?

Sure - export tracks as a BWF or AAF. The raw pcm tracks will not be
affected. However it's not like saving a 'project' where plugin chains and
settings etc will be preserved - but that wasn't what you were proposing.
