Default The cable review that John Atkinson is afraid to publish

http://www.amazon.com:80/review/product/B000I1X6PM

"If I could use a rusty boxcutter to carve a new orifice in my body that's
compatible with this link cable, I would already be doing it. I can just
imagine the pure musical goodness that would flow through this cable into
the wound and fill me completely -- like white, holy light. Holding this
cable in my hands actually makes me feel that much closer to the Lord
Jesus..."

I must be just plain too late. The link in the OP as well as the
one in the "blissful cable" thread are both dead Amazon links for me:
" Looking for something?
We're sorry. The Web address you entered is not a functioning page on
our site "

Nothing in the Wayback Machine either. Anyt other sites with this
thing? I sure I've seen some other link to a $500 consumer cable (if
not the Amazon reviews) in recent months.

It may have been an elaborate spoof. Many of the posts used
similar catch-phrases, and it's unlikely that there *is* such
a product. I'll ask our Denon rep tomorrow morning if he's
heard anything about it.

Damned funny stuff though. Somebody must have made a copy.

(FWIW, this is essentially an Ethernet cable....)

Much thanks, as always,
Chris Hornbeck

I found the earlier reference I mentioned, and it links straight to
a Denon webpage!

http://www.usa.denon.com/ProductDetails/3429.asp

Quoting the text on that page (just in case they wise up after the
Amazon thing and decided to bring this page down too):

AK-DL1: Ultra Premium Denon Link Cable

AK-DL1

$499.00

Denon's 1.5 meter (59 in.) ultra premium Denon Link cable was designed
for the audio enthusiast. Made from high purity copper wire and high
performance connection parts, the AK-DL1 will bring out all the
nuances in digital audio reproduction from any of our Denon DVD
players with the Denon Link feature. Attention to detail when
building this cable was used by employing high quality insulation,
tin-bearing alloy shielding and woven jacketing to reduce vibration
and to add durability. Additionally, signal directional markings are
provided for optimum signal transfer. Rounded plug levers help
prevent breakage.

View new product Warranty.

Much thanks, as always,
Chris Hornbeck

The Amazon review page was very funny. I sent it to one of my
"audiophile" friends.

I hope so. Until then I'll have to content myself with the Amazon
reviews for this admittedly non-audio product, though perhaps some
r.a.p posters can relate to the "3 to 5" review:

I have to wonder if this isn't brilliant viral marketing. Thanks to
this, the Denon brand has gotten a *lot* of attention. Perhaps they
subscribe to the theory that there is no such thing as bad publicity.
Some of the Amazon reviews are so funny that they seem professionally
written. I wonder if Denon's ad agency wrote some of the reviews?!?
