That is correct. I have heard MP3s in the past which were obviously
poorly made. With notlame, however, I have not been able to produce a
single MP3 which has offended my ears other than those which were made
from older, quieter WAVs ripped from older, quieter CDs. "normalize"
solved that problem for me, therefore, I have no complaints with my encoder.

At least we know, that to you, louder is psychoacoustically 'better'.
