Default All DBT or Subjective/Objective threads are ended

Due to the limited time the moderators now have to process posts, all
DBT or objective/subjective threads are ended. This is effective as
of the Date of this post, and is likely to stay in effect at least
until the moderation team has grown.

Please see the request for moderators post for an explanation why our
time is limited.

And please don't bother to plead "but I didn't get to respond...", it
will fall on deaf ears.

May I say that my observation of RAHE has led me to believe that it
would be a good thing if this policy stayed in force forever. It appears to
me that the threads about DBT and subjective/objective have been endlessly
useless in convincing anyone of anything. After following a few of the
amazingly extended discussions I realized that the regular contributors who
participate in these discussions are unmoving in their beliefs, but seem
unable to ignore the need to respond and respond and respond, ad infinitum.
There are no surprises left in this area of discussion, so I have stopped
reading them, but I feel sympathy for the moderators. Maybe some of the old
threads could be posted monthly - sort of "Best of RAHE bickering". Or a
possibly summary of the DBT, subjective, and objective positions could be
posted monthly so the points sof view could get their airing, but without
wearing out the moderators.

I started reading RAHE years ago in the hopes of learning from the "experts"
how to distinguish between amps, etc., that sounded the same to me. I think
it's safe to say that my views have evolved since then. So yes, these
threads have at least convinced one person of something.

There was some movement toward doing something like this a year or two ago.
Perhaps it's time to try again.

I certainly agree that if the moderators need some relief, this is a
reasonable short-term step. But I'd note that RAHE has been the only
moderated site on the Web that does not censor these discussions, and as
such it has performed a valuable service to those audiophiles who might
otherwise know of this debate only as caricatured by one side. I hope we can
find a way to continue that.
