This started off as a reply but since it started to be off topic, I decided to start a new thread. Being professionally involved with audiophiles and human behavior for awhile (fortunately not at the same time) I have pondered the reasons why audiophiles have largely deserted artistic enjoyment for technical enjoyment. This is an unwarranted over-generalization. You perhaps have confused 'audiophiles' with 'wealthy audiophile-type system owners'. As it turns out, looking into this honestly has involved an introspective side of the thing. I guess I fit into the audiophile character profile. Elaborate, please. Audiophiles should indeed learn to relax, not only skip from segment to segment to convince (or delude) themselves that something is missing. They should indeed sometimes put on their "musicophile" cap on and enjoy the art. I do, all the time. Then, after a while, the shortcomings in the system gradually begin to interfere. Time to upgrade. (Remainder snipped) |
