Hey, does anyone know where you can buy the background instrumentals to the latest hip-hop, R&B, and pop/rock songs? I've got a collection of about 15 CD's full of awsome hip-hop instrumental tracks, that are just waiting to be mixed with rap lyrics. I'm thinking about selling my collection, because the latest craze seems to be for kids to start their own band groups and make music on myspace. Even that hit single, "Soldier Boy" started by a guy without a record label on myspace. I know plently of talented musicians, but I don't think any of my friends have taken their talent into the world of electronic music and studio editing. If you created these instrumentals yourself then why not. If you didn't then you should respect other people's work and not profit from it. If they're commercial instrumentals from popular chart tracks then no one in their right mind is going to pay for instrumentals they can easily download from p2p networks anyway. I had a project awhile back to find a way of layering soundfiles together. Now that I'm running a macintosh I found software already out there that lets you do just that. You can pitch shift your voice so it sounds like a chip-munk, and blend it into the origonal vocals so that they sound like a real person you never even met. I bet you like to use the lens flare effect in photoshop too. I'm not working with any other software now, but I'm listening to lots of good hip-hop. I'm living in an appartment with my girlfriend. We are totally on our own, and doing fine. We found out that we could get wi-fi in this place from one of the appartments next door. The signal is as good as a cable modem. Also respect what other people pay for. While it may not seem like you're doing any harm stealing internet from your neighbours, they may be getting charged for the extra bandwidth you are using/stealing. If you're 'doing fine' then buy your own internet. I guess what I'm trying to say is that there shouldn't be a reason to re-invent the wheel, when you are trying to make music. There is tons of good instrumental music out there that can be mixed, layered, and edited together. All we really need to focus on is a good way of making the vocals sound clear, well timed with the background, and make sure they are hitting notes along with the beats. If you want to adopt that philosophy I think you should head over to Jamaica where they do recycle instrumentals over and over.. As for the UK or America? Don't think so. So you know of any goood places to find instrumental beats, and music? I'm trying to find people who want to buy the beats I already got, and am going to be selling lots of old hardware to get some extra cash. I have a keyboard, electric guitar, and a nice graphical designer drawing tablet I could sell for the right prices. If they're original then set-up a Myspace page advertising the 'beats' and encourage people to check the out and buy the rights. If they're not original then don't even think about selling them. Probably better off selling your possessions. |
