Default Ambiance mics done easy

I ended up putting two omni mics on a stereo mount pointing away from
each other and parallel to the stage (90 degrees left of straight
ahead, and 90 degrees right of straight ahead about 50 feet out from
the stage). The capsules ended up about 18 inches apart and give me
plenty of differential signal for a rear channel pair.

Makes sense, you record the entire room so a wide opening angle is
excellently suitable.

I would have guessed that I needed more separation at that distance
to have a nice stereo reverb effect. That guess would have been
wrong.
