Richard, I think you know that I spend 6 months or more at a time out sailing the caribbean and have been doing that since 1993. That kinda takes away from using the internet. Punk me if you want for showing up and leaving but while I'm out sipping rum drinks I really won't worry much about others shortcomings.- Hide quoted text - I will vouch that Danny has indeed been around this forum for a long time. He also has told us on more than one occasion about his yatcht and how he is pretty much retired. So now this issue has been brought up again, I am curious, where did you gethe money to retire so early? You've imtimated that you made it from the entertainment business but that seems a little unlikely given your age. So now I'd like to know - so how about it. Mike Mike, I'm 45. I've been a studio piano player since 1979. Its a long story there but I got a foot in when I was at a session and the hired guy couldn't find the new (at that time) Evergreen Studio. I played all the LA clubs back when they paid for music and had a few near misses with big time but In 1982 I was in a band and wrote a hit. I've had a few since and I wrote more sound tracks then I can remember. I think if you look back you will find a mention of how I went from 80's bands to musical director for Little Dion, The Coasters, and a slew of other motown guys. After I did the Motown band thing, to working for Orion TV. After Orion TV folded I went solo and did work for Horizon and a few other film companies and ran my studio Demos Masters. I wrote my first movie score in 83 I think... I'd have to check but it was about then for a film called There Comes A Time. I've done a lot of stuff over my life including getting my pilots license and flight instructor license. I opened a flight school named Los Angeles Sky Safari (van nuys) and later sold it and y 15 airplanes so I could go sailing for 5 years. When I came back I stayed 6 years and did the same old sound track thing. 4 years ago in august I packed up and went sailing again for the better part of that time. I took time off the boat for land vacations but Hurricane Wilma messed my boat up 2 years ago. I fixed her up but got off last summer to take some time and go to the Rockies for a while. I went to Utah (oops!) and spent 8 months there before taking off for a few months of cross country vacation by car. I ended up in San Diego for last summer and now I am on my way back to Florida where I am picking up my new boat so I can play some more. There you have it - my life story in a nutshell. It won't do you any good and I know I will have half a dozen low life losers yanking my crank before the night is out. I own a publishing company. I thought to quit music once and was working for the DOJ when I decided being an attorney was absolutely not for me, especially when I made more money in music. I have a US Coastguard 100 ton masters (captain license) and a few other certificates and licenses - but who's counting. I'm one of those people that applied myself and for those that don't, they can kiss my arse. I'm sick of people saying I inherited my money because my dad was successful. He is and was but I earned all of my money on my own. EVERY PENNY! I see my contracts floating around on web sites for people to download. Those are contracts that I wrote and people use daily in the biz and still they tell me I don't know what I am doing. As far as I am concerned, I have spent a hell of a lot of wasted time help ungrateful losers and all with asking little if anything back. There are some great people in here but I am friends with them no matter if I am here or not so I am officially gone. I just happened to have this page open and noticed you updated after you emailed me at home -thanks for that BTW. I've got better things to do. I know there will be a heave of posts after this one but I will not be responding. When I click send, the next thing I am doing is unsubscribing from this list so I don't have to look at the group anymore. Have a nice life |
