Any suggestions to upgrade the tone arm for my Thorens TD-316?

Currently it has the stock TP-21 mated with a Stanton 881S/Shure V15 IV
or Stanton 681S depending upon my mood and I find the tone arm to be
highly microphonic!

All tonearms are microphonic, the last advancement was to lower the tonearm
mass. But you gotta have enough weight on the cartridge to make it track
correctly. This is how I understand the problem: The turntable needs to be as
far away from the speakers as possible. The turntable should be on isolation
feet and use an isolation mat. EQ that is used to "dump" only the offending
frequency is very useful. I like the kind passive EQ like soundcraft. It adds
very little.

Well the turntable is located in my project recording studio which is in
my homes basement and fairly accurate as far as reflections etc are
concerned.
I have the unit on Sorbothane feet and it's on top of a very sturdy oak
cabinet that sits on the floor which is carpeted but is solid cement
underneath.

IOW you could hold a 70's disco party here, jump up and down all you
wish and the thing wouldn't skip a beat.

I'm not really a fan of EQ'ing because of the phase problems that can be
introduced, but it's not really needed because the room is pretty dead
because of a couple of strategically placed Sonex panels.

I think part of this is a resonant frequency in the room, you need to tune
out the resonance with a good EQ to stop the ringing.
The V15 is a good choice, with 1 1/2 grams, at least. confirm that with
a tone arm scale.

The ringing is more of the brush on the Stanton making a hollow
"metallic" noise (hard to describe) but audible.
Both the 881S and 681S do the same thing.

The stantons I tested on the MAC analyzer(shure test record) did the same
thing, even without the brush; exibiting a fair amount of tracking error. I
would be interested to know if swapping the arm really cures resonant
problems, or will the resonance just change frequency?
