Hi, after all these SACD vs. DVD-A posts, I have a question: How about XRCD? JVC created this kind of format, claimed is a 20bits adoptation from the original master tape, and claimed to be the best sound CD that you can imagine. I have the XRCD sampler, pretty good I should say, but they all jazz music, I wish I could have more vocal and wide range classical music. I ran the XRCD on one of systems as below: Parasound Halo P3 pre-amp Parasound Halo A21 power amp CEC 3300 CD-Player Soliloquy 6.3 All balance interconnects Bi-wire speaker cable: 10AWG 5N Silver plated 6N copper (top) & 8AWG 6N copper (bottom) Let me know what you think about the XRCD... Lawrence Leung When buying music, I have always been wary of formats that claim to make a recording sound better based solely on the superiority of the format. There are no magic bullets. No matter what is claimed for any given format, (indeed, no matter how potentially superior a given format may in fact be over others) if the utmost care in production and mastering is not taken, the final product we purchase will be inferior. There is no substitute for excellent mastering and production. Period. This is where the XRCD shines! Mike McC |
