CES + Von Schweikert VR-4 to VR-5/7 Upgrade?

Interesting that you would say this, as there was much controversy
regarding this 'mk 1.5' version when it came out. The original model
was famed for its clean and extended bass, but some less sophisticated
customers did indeed complain that it lacked the 'slam' of less smooth
and extended rivals.

Accordingly, Albert put in new bass drivers and produced a bass which
was less extended, less smooth, but certainly had more 'slam', a la
disco speakers. It might be a *very* good idea to see if you can
listen to modified speakers in your own home, before parting with cash
and discovering that you threw out the baby with the bathwater!
