Default Suggestions for multichannel upgrades

I am currently looking to upgrade some components to add SACD, DVD-A and
progressive scan to my curent set up.

Currently using a B&K Ref 20, which I love the sound quality but will cost $750
to upgrade for 6 channel in, OR Comp video but cannot do both. The Ref 30 can
be found for about $1200-$1300 used or the current Ref 50 is $3000 I think. I
was shown a $1500 pre/proc from Rotel that can do all formats up to 7.1. Seems
like a smart way to go. Of course the dealer says that the Rotel is a better
sounding piece then B&K so I am looking for anyone opinions

Next comes a DVD/CD player. My long time favorite, a Carver CD player with
tube output stage needs work, hard to get fixed and probably not worth it. I
am looking at the Marantz DV-6400 which plays everything. They also suggested
a Rotel DVD player that does everything except SACD for $999 instead of $599
for the Marantz. Any other players to look at?

This will all feed 7 channels of Parasound amps feeding a pair of Vandersteen
2CE sig's (2 ampo channels per speaker) for mains and M&K center and rear
speakers.

Anyway, open to suggestions
