I see it as having a physical form
I see space as the canvas (auditorium, concert hall etc.) I see the console as the Paint gun, and speakers as the gun tips... (which control the spray) I see compression as having a thinning effect, it combs out frequencies from the ends... leaving ultimately an audible impression of the mother frequency (then that main frequency(s) is perceived for what it is... in compressing a narrow band of frequencies.. you can... drive that smaller harder band farther (and the listener still only perceives the mother frequency) |

Kentucky Fried Movie, 1977, directed by John Landis, Sound by Todd-AO, and one of the last films I have seen to be recorded on the Todd-AO house branded fullcoat. Mono optical track, couldn't have been more than six channels in the mix. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis." |
