I'm going to try the stop connection jumper as Scott suggested. I made some connections and have seen the take-up motor spin so I believe the motor is good. You'll know when you do tones. The good news is that if the motor bearings _are_ rough, they are really not hard at all to replace on these machines Much easier than working on an ATR-100 motor. If I set it up and get it running --- I may not want to sell it. The thing about this stuff is that the machines sound really, really good, and they aren't really worth much any more. The only reason to get rid of a running one is that you don't have a lot of floor space. (Sadly, I got rid of my 440B-4 for just that reason.) --scott -- "C'est un Nagra.
