Does anyone do a PCI surround sound card decoding DTS, Dolby etc into
digital outputs ie SPDIF?
I'm looking for a N.1 decoder with N+1 SPDIF channels.

their technology in circuits with an external digital output.

I suspect you may be correct.
In which case it will have to be DAC/ADC in the middle.
Still, that's possible to do at around 120dB s/n with good design.
