Hi-
I have a high quality turntable I built years ago using a platter and arm purchased separately. The turntable is driven by a synchronous motor that is controlled by a variable frequency oscillator. The motor has a limited torque and I would like to replace it, perhaps with a DC drive, or with another variable frequency drive. I suspect that the synchronous motor with a finite number of poles works in a stepwise fashion and a DC drive could perhaps drive the platter with less flutter. I have only a limited knowledge of drives and I would appreciate an advice regarding: (1) AC or DC, and (2) Where to obtain it. Thanks in advance. Jiri Placek Boyertown, PA |
