I've lurked quite a bit for a definitive answer to this question, but
have yet to find it. Situation: I've got 12 separate office rooms with only one pair of in-wall speaker wires going to each which means I have no choice but to go mono. My idea is to line mix the left/right channels with the result being two equal mono inputs into a stereo power amp. From there to an impedance matched speaker selector, then through separate volume controls in each room. My reasoning is to be able to use both channels of the amplifier as equal mono outputs. Am I on the right track or am I missing something? If I use a compact line mixer with a single line out, can I split that for two equal mono signals. Cost is a factor. Possible Mixers: http://www.zzounds.com/item--RLLMX56C http://www.zzounds.com/item--BEHMX400 Many Thanks, Brent |

I prefer to build such contraptions in small plastic boxes to avoid hum loop and grounding issues. Many Thanks, Brent Peter Larsen |
