Default preamp (tube) power supply question

Norman Koren wrote a two-part series on modifying the PAS3 for Audio
Amateur -- it can still be found on his website.
http://www.normankoren.com/Audio/index.html He doesn't do much in the audio
domain of late. Koren improved the RIAA section of the preamp -- and it
needs it, but at the expense of another tube which strains the power such
that a little auxiliary trafo is recommended.

Jung and Voorhis did an excellent article in Audio Amateur or Glass Audio on
modding the PAS -- "The Last PAS" -- here's a digest of the power supply
mod: http://www.tech-diy.com/DIY_PWR_LastPass.htm

Mark,

I was in the process of rebuilding a PAS3 using point to point wiring
and no boards. I'm not an electronics engineer by any stretch of the
imagination, so it has been a process of copying, sketching, and (next
step) soldering it all together.

I'm writing this beacuse I am confused about a couple of things in your
first post; I am hoping you (or anyone else) can help clear something
up for me.

I thought the PC6 was the phono section- no? I have only 1 audio source
component- a turntable. I will not use any other inputs, nor will I be
using any other preamp. I would like the PC3 to simply give me the gain
I need (from the truntable) and give the volume control to drive an
amp.

I have already eliminated everything from the faceplate. All I have for
controls are 2 independant volume controls- left and a right. I also
have a power switch- that's all that remains. It already sounds so much
better but I would LOVE to eliminate one of the boards (be it PC5 or
PC6) if I could!!

Could you please verify that the board you have omitted is actually the
PC6. And, could you elaborate just a bit on how you hooked it up?

Thank you.
