Default Total Recorder Won't Record Audio Cassette Input

Hi,

When I play a CD on my laptop running XP, TR records it successfully.
But, when I connected an analog cassette recorder to the mike input on
the laptop, it doesn't record anything.

However, when I used XPs sound recorder to record from the analog
device, it does it successfully. the problem with that tool is that it
only records 60 second clips. And, my tape is an hour and change in
length.

Is there some way to to get TR to do what sound recorder is doing or is
there another solution?

Thanks in advance, Scott

All things considered, you'll probably be happiest if you download and get
familiar with good audio editing softwa

Here's a starting point that gives you a wonderful free opportunity:

Do you mean that it refuses to "roll"?
Or do you mean that it records silence?

Do you know how to use the Volume Control window
to select which input you want to record from, and to
adjust the record levels?

Sounds like you don't have the settings right for TR to
be able to connect to your desired input.
