Socky is cornered by reality.

Not a good strategy at all.
Kerry comes off like an asshole.

On this occasion, he comes off as a courageous teller of dirty
secrets. If Kerry wins the election, the stench of the dirty deals
by Dubya & Co. that will be uncovered will envelop the entire
federal government.

Dick Morris suggests

One can't help but observe that when Kerry didn't contradict your
agenda of hatred against gays, you held him up as a role model.

There isn't anything out there of any substance. There isn't enough
to even begin an investigation.

If Kerry is so courageous, how come he made his snide
comments when he thought he was off mike? Then, when
asked about it publicly, he wouldn't even say specifically
who he was talking about. Yes, some courage.\

1. He knew perfectly well his mike was on - that's how he played Karl

Rove,
et. all like a fiddle, and it worked.

2. He kept the reference to "Republican critics" prefectly and
intentionally vague, anticipating just the response the right-wing
bobble-heads would come up with in knee-jerk fashion - claiming that Kerry
was talking about Bush. Kerry didn't have to name Bush, and purposely
didn't - his remarks on their face can be taken as innocently criticizing
the right-wing idiots resposible for those pasted pictures of Jane Fonda
next to Kerry on their websites at anti-war rallies during the Vietnam

War.
Meanwhile, he's making the right-wingers look like a bunch of frightened,
irrational whiners, pretending he was deliberately aiming his attacks at
Bush personally. So Kerry got away with it all - without mentioning Bush,
the message of his opponents is making Bush out to be the target, which
gives Kerry great publicity, and makes Bush look bad, while really only
pointing vaguely to his detractors as a whole. And he's reaped a ton of
free TV coverage as a result of it all.

You don't think politicians in Washington, including *all* the Bush people
talk like this in private about their opponents? By making it appear that
was all he was doing, while knowing perfectly well his mike was on, he
pulled off a major media coup, and has the Repukes on the hypocritical
defensive, making them look *very* pathetic in the public's perception.

So, its all a staged pretense? That says a lot.in itself.
