I'm looking into buying a digital recorder. My requirements a
- record at reasonable qualiy (XLR input/s, prefer 2, doesn't need to
be best, but at least OK).
- Easy to use. Not a huge LCD and 5 buttons type.
- Provide click / drum (I guess all do?)
- easy to transfer files from / to the computer. Prefer USB or so, but
other interfaces would work too.
- probably ~6-8 channels.
- prefer a unit with hard disk, 20-40 GB.
- some effects are nice, but I'm not looking for something fancy.
- Portable (not everyday in my backpack, but not too big / heavy).

I was mostly looking at Tascam DP01-FX, and that's the price range
(~$400).

so...
Any recommendations (these models or anything else)?
Would you go for an older used unit, or for the same price the new are
better?

Thanks. It looks like the option in Fostex is Fostex MR8HD - looks
very atractive on the spec.
Any experience with the Fostex or the Tascam? I understand the later
often has problems with the hard drives reliability.

I'll make a trip to guitar center to see the units.

price - any opinions?
