Dithering is *never, never* done *after* the converson.
It must be is applied before or during the conversion.

Ooops I did mean before, but 'during' certainly would be
magical. This does explain why various goofs had trouble
answering my question (since the band-aid is applied
before the wound, so to speak), and why I still
get it mixed up during a casual reference.

Chevdo, given the mess you just made that I had to correct, it is quite
clear that you are indeed talking to yourself.

You also just barfed all over one of Scott's posts because it did not agree
with a poorly-written FAQ you found on the web someplace.
