Default HELP: Is protools TDM software compatible with a Digi001?

In a bit of a spot here... I had purchased a digi001 w/ a G3 on eBay
running on OS9. Since then the system has bit the dust and I now have
a G4 running OSX. When I purchased the system, they seller did NOT
send any software discs. An engineer friend of mine has a Protools 6.4
TDM disc. If I install it, will it be compatible with the 001?

If possible, could any answers be sent to ?

Thanks so much.

Don't know if you've tried this, but questions and answers to all
things ProTools may (or may not) be found at their forum, the
Digidesign User Conference. Good luck.

Is your G4 one of the earlier ones that would boot into 9? If the
system bit the dust but not the drive you should be able to simply move
the drive over, or otherwise move the older Digi files to the new Mac.
Older versions of PTools didn't require being installed from an
installer. They could be dragged over to a new drive. Just make sure
you include all the system files.

You're running into a bit of a wall hear because you're trying to piece
together a system, all of which is no longer in production, and each
component may or may not be compatible with the other. As you've
already been told the 001 will not work with PT 6.4 TDM and for that
matter, I don't think it will work with LE either.

You might want to consider what your budget is for getting into a more
recent system that will be more up-to-date in terms of hardware, OS,
software and available plug-ins. I know it might be more capital
outlay initially but look at how much time you're spending trying to
make this setup work when with a new rig you have support from the
manufacturer, the dealer (if you buy from a good one) and hundreds of
other users who are actively using more recent hardware and software to
run their businesses.

Let me know if we can be of any assistance.

Regards,

Craig

Somebody said they'll send you 6.4LE. Pretty nice.

According to the Digi website:

Pro Tools LE 6.4 for Mac OS X 10.3 is the last version that supports Digi
001 hardware. Pro Tools LE 6.4 is not compatible with Mac OS X v10.4
(Tiger).

So if you install it, either be sure it's running 10.3 or else ask in
the User Conference on their site to see if it actually runs reliably on
later versions of OS X.

I always take Digi's compatibility info seriously.

p.s. The Digi User Conference on their website is an invaluable source
of info for PT users.
