I do all of my music production on Windows, but I am going to give
Linux a try. I have been playing around with the Studio To Go Live CD, and Ardour, and Rosegarden. Typically I need to work with audio and midi sync'd, usually under 20 tracks. Any thoughts on which distribution might work better for me (CCRMA vs Demudi) ? |

I believe you can install Studio To Go onto your hard drive. That may be an easier route than using a different distro. Also, neither CCRMA or Demudi come with STG's VST support for legal reasons. (Unless you are prepared to build it yourself, which is not trivial.) Other than that, I'd say go with CCRMA. Install Fedora Core 4 rather than current as it will be a while before there are packages for FC5. I've never used Demudi, but CCRMA worked well for me when I tried it and was easy to set up. |
