hi,
i am on linux and my cdrom is a kind of cached drive. i heard cdparanoia is not safe on the class of cdroms. so i wanna ask, what do i do? does the cdda2wav help? on the other hand, i still has anotehr CDROM ( actually a DVD writer ), it's a ASUS DRW-1608P2S . where can i get know wheter this drive is cached or not? since i am not equiped with a Windows , so i can not run EAC to make sure of it. thanks. |

Have you actually tried extracting files using these drives?
Have you gone to the ASUS site and looked at the specs? |

Are they able to explain this remarkable conclusion? Perhaps you should be asking *them*. I can't imagine any kind of read function that could possibly be "unsafe"? |

Do you actually have a problem extracting audio from CD, or are you imagining a problem. I have never heard of a CD-ROM without a cache, actually at least several caches ! I've also never heard of an app being 'not safe' with any CD-ROM, except the HP4020i with which nothing was ever safe - but that's a different story ! geoff |
